Consulate General of India in Vancouver, in association with Chetna Association of Canada and Guru Ravidass Sabha, Burnaby organized an event on 27 November 2023 to celebrate the Constitution Day of India and the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

On the occasion of the Constitution Day, Consulate organized a Preamble Reading ceremony where officials of the Consulate participated. The Preamble reading was led by Consul General. All officials also participated in online events to mark the Constitution Day, i.e., Preamble Reading and the Constitution Quiz.

Consul General Manish received the office bearers and volunteers of Heartfulness Vancouver. The group was led by Secretary Ms. Lakshmi Ravindran, who made a presentation on the initiative of Heartfulness in contributing to the well-being of the Community.

|
Consulate organized a business outreach event to promote Investment opportunities in India for NRI/PIOs. Consul General made a detailed presentation and gave an overview of the current state of Indian economy, shared the vision for Amrit Kaal (Vision 2047, India@100); highlighted business reforms especially in the field of infrastructure and Tech sectors. He presented India as a Global innovation hub and provided detailed information on opportunities available in agriculture, construction, IT-BPM, Fintech, Food processing, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare etc. He appraised the guests on the special facilities available for NRI/PIOs and the help desk facility available at Invest India. He also shared details on India-Canada and India-BC relationship.

Infact the entire Khasi Hills region that forms the central part of Meghalaya is richly endowed with natural beauty. Mawphlang Sacred Grove: One of the most remarkable features of the Khasi Hills are the sacred forests, which have been preserved by traditional religious sanction, since the ancient days. One of the most famous sacred forests is the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, about 25 kilometres from Shillong.

KNOW YOUR MILLETS- LITTLE MILLET

Little Millet
Little Millet (Panicummiliare) is grown throughout India and is a traditional crop. It is a relative of proso millet but the seeds of little millet are much smaller than proso millet. it is also called Moraiyo, Kutki, Shavan, and Sama. It is loaded with vitamin B and essential minerals such as Calcium, Iron, Zinc, and Potassium. Little Millet is largely used in Southern states of India in numerous traditional dishes. It is a healthier alternative to rice and does not cause weight gain.
